Renaissance

Renaissance is a cyberpunkish French movie which was recently dubbed for the American audience. I donno how much it helped (considering my friend and I constituted for half of the audience at the theatre), but it sure did not take any thing away.. from the brilliant 3D animation, provided by ze Frenchmen. Try to catch this in a theatre (optimist that I am) as it is a tad slow and trite (very disappointing storyline) to be watched on a DVD (cuddled up in a bed, on a cold October night, w/ or w/o hot chocolate). You -will- doze off. Recommended for only people who like animation or such sorts.. and those who have soft place or two for the graphic artists all over the world.

Somewhere in the middle of the movie, I thought to myself, why could not have Superman returned flying around the Eiffel Tower? A little dark, a little intriguing? Blah!! Red, yellow.. and blue. Popstars!!

Batman?? Hmm.. may be next time. Daniel Craig could actually do the Batman voice over. Lemme call the guy.. Mr. Volckman?

A post with an apologetic beginning

Alrite.. so, am terribly jobless this evening and have no intention of spending it in any one's company. It is one of those days when you think homework can wait one more day, research resembles mutant spewn toxic biowaste and gym, a distant horizon. Or in Partha's words.. our every other day.

So, in this "spare" time, I wish to write about certain things. I have alrwady written two testimonials for two of you readers, on Orkut today, which btw has bedeviledly enveloped my YIM timeslot. So, any of you who have left me an offline or such sorts.. sorry, did nt see. Oh, for the record, yes.. I too.. like the millions of others who have Orkut accounts, "hate" the O with passionate disgust and other continual cuss word yielding sentiments. But.. I shall not delete the account. No, siree!!

Again, sorry to have digressed. The point of this post is (was) to write something clever about the following picture..

Yes, this is that (only). I had clicked this picture a few weeks back in front of the Museum.

But now, I have no strunt for it. So, it shall wait.

In the mean while, lemme tell you a bit of some of the books that have been against my pillow for a while now.

Thud!: Terry Pratchett.. what can I say? The man is funny. Well, yes.. some call his humor spurious, or affected.. but I think it is just a pleasant sardonic rendition of the most stock events. Sam Vimes, the classic of course. I have not finished the book yet.. donno, if I can, actually. But I do suggest you pick this one up, if you have not seen any of the Discworld series around.

Supreme, The Story of the Year: I cannot help but repeat, Alan Moore is God. Or someone close to that.

The Sandman, Fables and Reflections: The last of my Sandman volumes. Marco Polo, Haroun al Raschid.. people try to confront change with story telling, but there are not many things they can do in the face of a changing world except to set objects out of the flux of time by using one's imagination.

Two months now, these have been sharing my pillow space. For the sake of more head room, hope to complete, at least two of the three within this month. Those, and the twenty five pending patents I need to look at. And, the homework.

Hmm..

I think I ll go now..

Picture blog updated.
