Considering the no. of mentions, Neil Gaiman and the Sandman Series find in your blog...I thought your first suggestion would be his work....
(I am referring to some books you suggested,to break my movie marathon)

Ofcourse.... it may not always work that way (suggestiong one's fav)... but just curious...

This is not from the Sandman series, but is very entertaining nevertheless. You'd find a whole lot of Marvel superheroes' versions.. from the X-Men band to the Incredible Hulk.. to the Daredevil.. all placed in 1602 here.

It was also kinda fresh to read Gaiman through Andy Kubert's ink (who is more of a comic book artist) than say, Dave McKean (who does all the Sandman graphics, and is relatively more classic.. as is the series).

I 'd definitely recommend any of Gaiman's writings for the sheer genius he presents. But Gaiman's writing does not appeal to everyone.. I had tried recommending him previously.. but err.. you know ;p

Alan Moore or Stan Lee would probably be a better opener for first timers to these genres.
