no..i dnt want to be the 'knight in armour'..yet..similar prob faced in the past.

thr mite be two reasons.
1.Microsoft Word version mismatch..
2.Virus in the device/drive you are usig to carry the file.

V.V.Imp:
Do you have the file stored somewher else?

What we did:
-Could recover only 1 file..(of 2).. because of the version mismatch... (this file was prepared in MS-Word 2003 and I opened it in MS-Word 2004...I opened it with text recovery converter... recovered it but it needed some formatting...)
-The other file was lost ( pen drive blues...!) so had to go the comp where I stored it and recover it again..

Hope this helps.

@IC, well.. thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, neither was there a version mismatch, nor did I have that very file saved elsewhere. I could have downloaded the File Recoverer patch, may be. But sounded tedious enough to deter me.

But my boss has one of the copies, so am good for the moment. It was a 14 MB file with a lotta Endnote attachments. Endnote always has a way to fuck things up. Observation.

@Viggu, yes.. yes, all luck. And prayers, of course.. that are getting me through. =p

The thesis was successfully submitted early this week to the committee. The last word on text was "Phew!!" which was not very well received by my advisor. I had to correct it to "may be continued.." =p (Kiddin')

Just preparing for the defense presentation due on Monday.

Yes, you should start praying again. =)
