It's always very very disturbing when the Brits start to suck up to us, I can't help but smell a conspiracy when that happens.

May very well be.
Also I see this 'maybe better than Don himself' mostly in Brit media. The Indians are busy stirring up a campaign to confer Bharat Ratna on Sachin. It's the Brits mostly who are doing the Don-Don.
I personally think neither of these should really matter to his glory.
