did i listen to pop music because i was miserable?

its almost 3 am. but i feel compelled to write in this hour coz this state of bliss accidentally begotten could be lost to the brazen light of the day. in certain ways very indulgent (and uninteresting to most), this post is being written in a mood much similar to that encountered when the ipod shuffles to your favorite song at a pecked bus stop.

high fidelity. i love this movie. this was a sorta blast from the past i.e. from days of disillusioned youth and misrepresented hormones. so when i saw the dvd at a friend's place tonite.. i had to watch it again. so i have this silly grin on my face now.. as i type this quasi-nostalgic post.

high fidelity has three things men like:
1. seemingly-avoidable-but-charming musical references with little or no sense of purpose but a very unsubtle purporting of one's need to suggest lyrics that one could not understand when one was younger.
2. bitching about relationships while sounding morally degenerate and justifiable at the same time in an arguably mature manner, although using shorter sentences.
3. a very handsome justification of why boys are never ready to be men. although they would like to. eventually.

i think the john cusack movie is a good excuse to convince unrelenting species in defense of an entire generation of slacker pseudo intellectuals, who make up random words in the middle of sentences when they forget what they wanted to say in the first place. they are these mouthpieces for a misunderstood community of loud and happy smart alecs. only in an embalmingly translatable language. if not for such comedies, men would never be taken seriously.

"..like a drunken blabber"
don't they always seem so, in hindsight?
That's part of the charm though, I would say.

The Before Sunrise/sunset movie does that to me.. I meant the silly smile in my case.

Anyway, it is really interesting to see men's point of view 'cos
1. They don't seem to dwell on details too much, which is indeed nice.
2.Music does add to the misery sometimes.. esp with lyrics.
3.And you use long sentences. =p
